castle harbor marina needs to wake up they are ridiculous. first off they install ice eaters that spit up oil and die on a regular intervel. secondaly thier electric has so many problems its not uncommon to hear a loud bang from the breakers making you question your own electric bills for authenticy. they charge both me and my girlfriend a liveaboard fee cant you just be happy your getting two slips occupied. their is no internet (it has problems) cable etc. their laundy mat has severeal problems and the main being that it always takes peoples money or cost to much to dry clothes. they tow or threaten to tow peoples cars if they arent up to date with stikers weather operating or not (liveaboards who have only one car and struggling with finances paid for thier cars to be here and shouldnt be bothered with it) thier is no law that says its illegal to to have a car unregstered or tagged believe me i looked. theirs constant smell of diesel around the marina (al most passed out inside my boat one night had to call the fire and rescue to look for the source) they let rules slide with some like grills on boats but for others its easiest to rip it off your hull then to hear them nag- ps no tiki torches. as a person who worked 2 jobs and was never home i didnt like implications from slip neighbors (clans) that i was pumping out or the way that the marina handled that issue or other issues. they have a start *** kinda attitude that wears off on the patrons of thier buisness and gives the marina a grumpy negative attmosphere. a little bit about me and my girlfriend we stay mostly to ourselves but enjoy small talk with neighbors we dont drink etc and we bought boats to live on to enjoy the water and be as peaceful and serene as possible... were good people but i believe boating should be like camping. i mean you wouldnt judge someone at a yellow stone national park or would you say something unless it was nice because your familys thier and your trying to have a good time why would you hear. its the marinas fault thats all i can say to sum all this up if you just want to have a good time with family etc.. do not come here....... if you do im sorry Castle harbor marina needs to wake up they are ridiculous. Must not be the same place I am. Sounds like someone who tried to take advantage of a good thing and got a slap down.

Chris, you're a lying ***. Everybody in the marina wanted you and the crazy people you allowed to live with you after u haul took the truck they were living out of gone.

2 liveaboard fees because you lived in 2 separate boats. By your logic, I can say I'm dating everyone on my bulkhead and split the fee that way.

The marina wanted you out so bad they paid for your tow out.

You did everything you could do to not pay a dime and took from anybody that would give.

You were one of the problems plaguing this marina.

Sick of Castle Harbor Marina managment

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I do not think management even cares that they have a problem. I have never seen a business run with such blinders on. I have no idea who owns this but they must not care either because they never address the management issues. All we want is what we pay for. If this is all we are going to get fine, just make it clear before we sign a contract and drastically cut your prices to reflect the service offered. I am sick of being short changed and being treated like I am a bother for expecting what you say you are giving in your advertisements. I have been reading reviews on other sites as well as talking to the other slip holders. They are pretty much all sick of it too. Look up reviews for Castle Harbor Marina and you will see.

I like it

I enjoy Castle Harbour. There are wonderful people who dock here and we love gathering to talk about boating and world events. It is in a good location and while the facility and grounds are not excellent, they are kept well enough for me. They are pet friendly which my cat loves. The channel entrance is well marked. It is a safe harbour. One note: I do wish they would be sure all of the lighting is working for boater safety. The entire one side of the pool is blacked out and needs light bulbs changed ASAP. Thank you and happy boating.

Very poor service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Went to pay slip dues and talk to marina staff it was 2:00 and no one was to be found. The marina installed an ice eater this year for me and the whole right side of my boat is covered in ice. The docks were covered in ice and i almost fell in the bay. I've been here 5 years and every year their is some problem with the marina management and how they conduct business. this will be my last year for 4000 a year to tie a boat up you expect a little more or well itd be cheaper to more out and not pay all that money

Leaving CHM Castle Harbor Marina ASAP

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
An enclosed area for clients would be nice too. We are leaving CHM because there is no place to spend time with friends unless its during the summer season. Boating is longer than 3 months. It is a 12 month experience.CHM has a nice pavilion - if the owner/management would add lift up doors (like the Jetty bar has) or enclose half of it, etc. That would be a nice place for the remaining customers who may happen to stay to spend time together. The only enclosed area is the main office. Of course the employees come before the people who pay and have a place to hang out and watch tv, play computers and sit around.

I have heard this repeated complaint from many who stay here. Pretty much in the exact same words every time so there is an obvious thread here.

The points are correct in fact. I still however love the marina despite its flaws.

I agree. It is not set up very well for customer appreciation and customer services.

wow u hit the nail on the head. we are also leaving because the amenities are lacking. they are trying to make a few repairs but continue to remain sub par and need to really step it up to compete with other marinas and yet keep the slip fees down to keep the slip holders they already have.

Marina needs serious repairs, a good cleaning of the grounds, better/more amenities. The new yacht club is fabulous although they can only operate 4 months a year as there is absolutely no indoor area on this property.

I enjoyed the events planned by the yacht club last summer and love the inclusion of the entire marina not just a targeted few.

Customers do PAY for 12 month use of the marina and many keep our boats here all 12 months in the slips we pay to rent.

If you choose to come in the winter and stay overnight more than a few times they will charge you an additional 700.00. I am pretty sure I already PAID for my slip so this additional fee is asinine.

And for that 700.00 you get pretty much nothing in return.

I do not use the bathhouse, the laundry or any of the facilities. So what am I paying extra for exactly?

Oh I get it, we get to pay the salary of the employees who work in the winter. Perhaps lay offs and unemployment would be a better option for the unnecessary staff.

All you need is the younger lady who runs the office part of the business and one maintenance man. Not the old guy though, he needs to retire. And not the old lady who runs the marina as she is a poor manager to begin with. The laundry room is dirty & has only 2 washers.

It sure would be a great idea to cover the floors, old rusty, dirty pipes and duct tape they use to hold the place together. It has filthy old concrete that can never be cleaned (even if they did actually clean it, the customers are the ones who clean it.) In the winter its an abandoned marina except for the few live aboard staying there. The live aboards watch out for our boats while we are not there. Not the marina staff and unfortunately the ones who live there all winter also have to pay extra and THEY are the ones who watch out for our boats when we are not there - live aboards are free security.

Well actually not free since they have to pay CHM to provide the extra security for them.

Its just an odd set up all around and if you mention any of this to them? Seriously after hearing all of that do you think they actually care???

Customer service

Very poor customer service. I am sure the office help Daniellee would be able to assist more but Betsee and Fred make it so hard for her to do anything of value. They threaten her with getting fired if she doesnt play along with their bad behavior. The marina patrons are working to get as many of us together as we can and vacate the premisses there are so many marinas to choose from we would all rather give our hard earned money to a marina who values the paying clients. Very sad to see such a beautiful marina fall to pieces like this.

CHM needs a manager who can actually manage staff & business. They hire staff and instead of having them ***,sweep, restock or clean they allow them to sit in the office and play computer games and talk. MUCH to be done and staff just walk around playing follow the leader. We see that corporate is trying at least with updating some items in the bathrooms, allowing the pavilion counter top to be somewhat repaired, repairing some dock boards but there is a long way to go. Bathroom codes also need changed for client safety. CHM (manager) Betsy's motto is "F#%* 'em "

I am glad to see I am not the only one who feels this way. I have actually heard the managers say F them in regards to the customers.

They do not care enough to make the customers a priority that is for sure.

Some people just want to collect a paycheck. So sad
